This was such a wonderful experience. Thanks to the organizers and the women who shared an afternoon working to overcome the obstacles we find ourselves against when considering speaking publicly.

Great idea and well structured – inspiring!

Very supportive environment. All gathered were interested in making everyone feel successful. The best meetup I’ve ever been to.

I had thought about getting into public speaking before participating in Women Talking WordPress, but the workshop was the final push I needed to have the confidence to pitch a talk for an event. I have given several talks at WordPress meetups and WordCamps since.

Before taking the Women Talking WordPress workshop, I was under the illusion that I didn’t have much to offer that people didn’t know already. I thought I needed to be more of a “known name”, deeply involved in some unique or trendy project, or able to explain something highly technical. The workshop showed me that my own perspective and experiences were of value. I gave my first WordPress-related talk at WordCamp Vancouver and I was pleased to hear people found real value in my presentation and ideas they could apply to their own work.

During the workshop I realized that there were other women just like me who felt they didn’t know enough to speak in public. We were all knowledgeable people with influence which made me realize that there was no reason to feel afraid. I gained the confidence that I needed, have been giving presentations ever since, and was even inspired to take on co-leading the User group of our WordPress meetups.

A gentle uprising among the feminine side of the WordPress community.

We will be holding this again for women and for our general WordPress Vancouver community. Ask to be notified.
